Cottonwood, CA a charming historic town - 3/9/2010
The wife and I moved here from the S.F. Bay Area and find quaint Cottonwood is a little slice of Heaven. I love to walk the dog down to Cottonwood "creek" or the Sacramento River in the evenings. Lots of gorgious open views. VERY nice neighbors and feeling of community.

The Sperling population figures seem a little off. The county line goes through town, so the 4,000 or so folks in Lake California do not show up on the stats. The local ranches do not show up as "Cottonwood" either. There should be close to 15,000 in this zip. Thousands of people drive through on 1-5 everyday- it is a great place for anyone serving the traveler. Read More

A Quiet Place to Live - 5/4/2009
I have lived in Cottonwood for the past 7 years, relocating from Southern California. It is a beautiful place to live. A bit isolated in many ways. In order to get reasonable air line flights, one needs to drive to Sacramento.

Growing up Country - 12/14/2007
I lived in Cottonwood CA, for about 5 years, and it was a mix of family, close friends, and wide open space. We had snow at times in the Winter, and the Summers may have been hot, but we went tubing down Cottonwood Creek, and that made up for it. I had 13 horses as well, and my friends and I rode quite a bit. The traffic is busy at times, but we also had the chance to go for long walks at night, and had no worries. Mind you this was the 80's, but the last time I was there, not much had changed. The schools are very good, and although I graduated from Red Bluff High School, most of us were very good friends. Cottonwood is a great place to live in between Red Bluff Anderson and Redding if you have a growing family, or if you just want somewhere quiet to settle down. I would also suggest an awesome Restaurant called the Cottonwood Eatery, downtown Cottonwood, for some awesome Ribs, and really tender Steaks. The wine that is made locally, which for wine lovers you'd love the tour, Read More
